Created by LA TRESSE, Prima Materia is a procession for six dancers which combines voice and dance in honour of the lunar cycle. This ritual, which employs a Romanian folk song, celebrates the period in the lunar cycle where the moon is absent from the sky; the in-between moment of absolute potential that provides a metaphor for the current global context. Through the rhythmic patterns of their feet, the dancers create an architecture in the outdoor space that invites the public to meditate on the cyclical nature of life. The physical intensity of the bodies combined with the polyphony of voices transports the viewer to a world which straddles the mystical and the natural.
